Why and how did you decide to start a food business?

I remember being in college and imagining the future I wanted to have. I loved the limitless nature of the culinary world. You can literally feed anyone, anywhere.

How long have you been in business?

I've been professionally cooking for almost 15 years.

How has owning a business changed now from when you first got started?

I would say I have a lot more deadlines and responsibilities. When I first started I had a lot of dreams, now that I'm on the other side of it's more reality based.

Can you please tell us about your signature items?

I own a charcuterie cart, I've named her Sharcuterie Detroit. It's a unique addition to my licensed catering business Chef Shobe LLC. As far as I know I'm the only caterer and private chef with a cart. What's unique about it is that I'm able to truly customize the guest experience with it being an active station and I am able create offerings such as dips, gluten free and vegans options.

How has utilizing the food business programming and/or incubator kitchen in Eastern Market impacted your growth as a business?

I am a huge fan of the food business programming in the eastern market. I've done a cohort with Chef E along with several of the pop up sessions.

Every time that I've invested the time, I've gotten something out of it. I've stepped up my food styling game, learned a bit about lighting for from a food photographer and even revised pricing. The relationships you build here are incredible as well. Being a food entrepreneur can be isolating, being welcomed to the iconic Eastern Market is a big deal.

Do you have advice for future food business entrepreneurs?

Put your self out there, utilize the resources the Eastern Market has to offer and always do good business. What you do reflects on you and others.
